Works great with my very slow video player

I found this out in a Make Magazine article about VSMP, went down the rabbit hole and finished building my own and it works great!

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Almost everything is included

Disappointing: Single Board Computer

The documentation/sample code provided is often incorrect and contains typographical errors. Information/commands have been edited and entire sections removed in the provided datasheets. After I wrote my own firmware it worked fine (and it supports greyscale, one of the edited features) but after about a month it just stopped working (despite meeting specs and hibernating the display after each update) .

EXTREMELY FRAGILE - Computer Components

I was about to give my daughter a present; a really smart Harry Potter Daily Prophet newspaper. This display broke when I took it out of the box. That in itself was heartbreaking, but the product description included "development resources and guides (Raspberry Pi/Arduino/STM32 examples)". This is what I was looking for when the screen burst. They were absolutely not included; However, after writing this review, I found a link to the information in the description, so I went up a star. I doubt…

Fragile and undocumented

The only thing I want to pay more attention to are the reviews on how fragile it is. The connector on the display itself is indeed incredibly fragile and barely connected to the display. It cannot be inserted into the supplied e-paper adapter without bending or pressing, and it can be completely detached from the screen with just a light pressure. The connector is placed on the commands once with no visible damage, does not respond. I was trying to reinsert the connector when it broke, which I…

7.5 inch, good buy, great programming fun!

Waveshare 7.5" E-Ink HAT Display for Raspberry Pi 640 x 384 Black & White Dual Color SPI Screen No Backlight Ultra Low Consumption Current user of a 7.5" screen. Screen refresh is adequate, but the entire screen flashes when it's on (usually 2 alternating black and white). It might be possible to implement a partial screen refresh, but I've had no luck with that (or with obtaining one). the fastest source code to use, probably due to the direct memory access of the GPIO device /dev/mem. Usually

Amazing screens and very easy setup

Due to Amazon's policy on links to external sites, this review can't post any really useful information (like specs), but I'll try my best. With a color depth of 1 bit (black and white) and a screen resolution of 800 x 480, you can print a lot of content. The included ribbon and SPI interface board are amazing and make everything plug and play. Now this is also in the manufacturer space, so it's not a generic thing that you can plug into any old computer. You should have a rough idea of what…
