Not Worth the Money

The WAVLINK external docking station duplicator is a complete waste of money. According to my experience, this product is unreliable and doesn't work with a lot of computers. The pros are that it's easy to set up and has a sleek design. However, the cons are that it doesn't provide consistent results and can often cause confusion and frustration when trying to operate it. Don't waste your time or resources with this product, look elsewhere for a more reliable option.

USB 3.0 ports offer terrible speed

I can't confirm how well it works with USB C 3.1, but I've used it on two different computers (USB 3.0 Type A) and was only able to do 330MB/s when the SSD could reach 540MB/s when connected directly to the board. To make matters worse, the write speed has dropped from 340 MB/s to 133 MB/s. USB 3.0 delivers 625 Mbps both ways (and 3.1 can do twice as much). My guess is that the USB controller on the board needs more power than the port to run at full speed. Maybe a Type-C port on the computer…

NOT USB 3.1, only USB 3.0 speeds. Also, watch out for excessive heat during long transfers.

I currently have a 1TB 850 EVO in the case. Works well, but I'm deducting a star because it's advertised as a USB 3.1 enclosure. No, that is not so. The SATA/USB controller is the ASM-105x, which is a USB 3.0 controller (this information can easily be found on Google). Because of this, the drive will work the same whether you have a USB 3.0 port or a USB 3.1A/USB 3.1C port. I've tested it over USB 3.1 and USB 3.0 ports and the speed is always within error.
