NOT USB 3.1, only USB 3.0 speeds. Also, watch out for excessive heat during long transfers.

I currently have a 1TB 850 EVO in the case. Works well, but I'm deducting a star because it's advertised as a USB 3.1 enclosure. No, that is not so. The SATA/USB controller is the ASM-105x, which is a USB 3.0 controller (this information can easily be found on Google). Because of this, the drive will work the same whether you have a USB 3.0 port or a USB 3.1A/USB 3.1C port. I've tested it over USB 3.1 and USB 3.0 ports and the speed is always within error. Advertising aside, the drive does a good job and the speed remains consistent even after transferring several hundred gigabytes of files. Disclaimer: Any enclosure you buy for an M.2 SSD will get hot. Very very hot. If you plan to use this particular case for full system backups or hundreds of gigs of data, I would be wary. The temperature of the disc itself can reach 40 degrees in 20 minutes and 60 degrees in an hour. That's when I wrote 500GB of data to the hard drive. I knew it was going to be hot, I didn't know it was going to be this hot. Since I'm in a particularly hot climate at this time of year and not many people will be copying that much data onto the hard drive at once, I'm not deducting a star for the heat. But you must know about it if you buy any of them. In general I am satisfied. Speeds are fast enough. In any case, not many (if any) SATA drives make proper use of the USB 3.1 controller.
