120 watt soldering iron

The Weller SP120 120 watt soldering iron is large and easily handles large volumes of work. I ordered to install PL-259 UHF connectors on a coax cable. I haven't used it for this task yet, but I have used it to solder strips of copper foil together and to solder 1" tinned copper braid to copper foil. This iron is great for large braids and copper foil. It's solid enough to handle these large ones to solder objects without temperature drop.The tip has a nice nickel plated finish for easy…

Worked great exactly twice, now it's junk

I needed a bigger and heavier soldering iron to solder PL-259 coax connectors without having to heat the connector for so long. I found this Weller and bought it based on my past experience and reputation. It's a big, heavy iron and once I had it I soldered the connections. It worked well to quickly solder large connectors without damaging the insulation. A few days later I did it again and it soldered like a dream (after a long warm up). Wow it's huge: soldering iron and iron

I should have noticed that the length in the description of this thing is HUGE! I figured I could just get a new tip and solder the smaller leads. NO! my mistake, this thing is amazing, even though i soldered a whole camaro wire to it. This thing heats the wire a lot quicker than my old one. Although it's heavy and big, it actually fits in a lot of places, I thought it wouldn't. I give five stars because it saved me time and it's my fault for not checking the size.
