Weller TC205 Solder Cleaning Sponge Review

Sponge as advertised and fits my Weller soldering station perfectly. Only complaint it's expensive for just a sponge.

What can I say, it's a sponge with pieces. It would be nice if more parts were included in the kit. A bit expensive for what you get.

Another quality product from Weller. Perfect fit for my Weller soldering iron holder. With all the soldering I do, finding them on Amazon was easy and ordering them on Amazon was even easier!

hey it's a sponge and it works! I love this style with lots of individual grooves that allow for more space for wiping the tip and maximum sponge life. This one is bigger than most.

Not much to say about that. I'm sure it will be functionally identical to previous TC205s I've used which means it should work just fine. Many people prefer to dry clean the tip (i.e. ball brass wire). Fur. It's just a personal preference. For decades I have had no problems with Weller nozzles using a sponge.

I love my Weller soldering station. I actually erased the original sponge. I've tried a few common replacement sponges, but none of them work as well as the original. I took the opportunity to purchase these five packs and they are great, fit my stand perfectly and work. My last sponge lasted two years so I now have a 10 year inventory. Thinner than I thought and couldn't find anything about it in the ad. This thinness is a problem as it wears out much quicker than thicker ones. The thick one was bought to me 17 years ago. Currently used about once a month. After a few weeks of 2-3 times weekly use (project work) the thin one has already started to wear out. The difference is easy to spot. I think this will be the last time I'll be using sponges and will most likely switch to copper balls for tinning. Lighter, without heat…
