Large Umbrella: Light Controls and Modifiers

Large Umbrella. I think someone said that when you remove the black cap, it has pointy ends. NO! no These are flat pieces of metal that won't hurt you. The black cover is also very easy to put back on. I didn't want to take it off because I was afraid to put it back on but when I did I thought man I should have done this a long time ago, it was so easy! The thickness of the white material is quite large. Well. Almost the same thickness as my softbox lid. It's definitely thicker than the version

Good price good quality

Performance wise I love it and use it often instead of Profoto softboxes! However, I've had it for less than a year and on first use one of the little pins attaching the opaque outer shell to the white bud broke and I used a safety grip to reattach it. Then, a few months later, two spikes broke in the middle of filming, but I knew they had to have an extra one. I think I need to invest in a better quality umbrella because $20 and $30 adds up and I should have known better. I really wanted to…

Portable, good light distribution.

For the price, this umbrella offers good light distribution, especially in bright light. Haven't tried it as a passthrough yet, but I'm pretty sure it works great. I have other translucent fabric shades that work great as a thru light and create big round highlights in the eyes. Efficient, easy setup. Advice for those packing an umbrella. I used to stuff my umbrellas by throwing them in a suitcase with light stands, tripod, etc. I bought a piece of 32" x 2.5" PVC pipe with a connector. Only $6.

Great Bang for the Buck

I bought this umbrella to use at a wedding with my slave flashes. It felt a little flimsy in terms of construction, but more so than any I've used. I think it can last for a while with proper care. The black cover has been thought through down to the smallest detail and is easy to remove. When in place, it blocks most but not all light and makes the umbrella more reflective. At the wedding I used it for formal party photos and large family portraits. It worked great for diffusing the light and…

This is a great umbrella for shoot through or as a reflector

This is a great umbrella for shoot through or as a reflector. I almost bought a cheaper one that just shoots through, but I'm glad I didn't. I usually use it on one of my camera tripods and when I use it to take pictures it doesn't make you point down as often. This was a problem when photographing my daughter who had just turned 1 year old, so I started using her as a reflector. No matter how you use it, it provides great flash lighting. I was able to capture some amazing studio quality…

I use them monthly and the ribs are as strong as the day they arrived

I've had 2 of these for over a year now. I use them monthly and the ribs are as strong as the day they arrived. Maybe in a year the professional traveler will change their mind, but for advanced amateurs they are ideal. The best thing is the black backing which is very easy to remove and put back on. It's easy to switch from crossover to rebound depending on your style or space requirements. Obviously outdoors the 45 will catch the wind and tip over much more easily than the smaller 36, so make

Finally a quality umbrella!

I made the mistake of buying the cheapest convertible umbrella I could find, thinking they were all kind of the same, right? NOT RIGHT. I returned my previous purchase of cheaper umbrellas and then ordered this product (which I denied in the first place). WOW, I'm very glad I bought this. It comes in a plastic case and the quality of the umbrella is much better than my last purchase. This umbrella is made of durable materials, from the stem to the cover material and GLASS FIBER support rib…
