One stop shop - deployable anywhere, runs everywhere

The ability to run in embedded mode. The ease of deployment. The fact that it has been around for a long time and has lots of support. I've used other containers like docker but Wildfly feels more integrated into the JVM ecosystem. It's not as easy to use when compared to docker. If you want something very simple that just works then go with docker. If you want a container that will be around for a while then Wildfly is your best bet. We needed an embedded container that would allow us to run…

Pros
  • Embedded nature
  • Easy deployments via war file
  • Lots or documentation available online.
  • Support from Red Hat, IBM etc
Cons
  • Not open source
  • Somewhat complex installation process

Best open source java application Server

The best thing about wildfly is that it was easy to deploy my own modules with inbuilt security. It also provides good support for Java EE 7 specification. It can be easily integrated with other frameworks like Spring boot or JHipster. Also there are some limitations of wildfly which should be considered before choosing this as a J2EE app server. I have used wildfly in my previous project where we used it for our microservices architecture. This helped us to manage our services more…

Pros
  • Easy deployment
  • Supports java ee7
  • Good tooling/IDE integration.
  • Has decent documentation available online
Cons
  • Doesn't provide native monitoring capabilities (not supported by default)
  • Not user friendly enough(Not much information provided while installing)
