After trying this thermometer, I can honestly say it is essential for any home baker. The measurements are accurate and the size is perfect for any size pot. The long handle ensures that you don't burn yourself when checking the temperature of your candy, caramel or frosting. The only downside is that it may be difficult to read the temperature if the liquid is dark. Overall, a great addition to any Home and Kitchen.

It's still working even after security searched my suitcase and broke it. I know they ransacked it because it was one of those "we had to look in the trunk for safe blah blah blah papers". Also works if the glass breaks.

It could be a great product but it's not what I need. You must immerse the probe 1.5 inches into the liquid for proper operation. This makes sense if you're deep frying, but I make candy on a small scale. I bought this because my candy thermometer clip broke and it had a different clip style that looked like a good idea. I was able to remove this pot clip and use it with a smaller thermometer. It was cheaper than buying the clip yourself hence 4 stars.
