Cast Iron Does Not Harden Properly

Cast Iron does not harden in the oven as advertised. Although I tried oven curing according to the package directions, including cleaning with soap and hot water, a sticky residue remained on the cast iron and the brown goo rubbed off every time I tried to cure. I've cured other cast iron pans in the past with no problems, so it seemed like the manufacturer applied some kind of coating to the item that isn't easily removed.

Pros
  • Serving Platters, Trays & Plates
Cons
  • Long Lead Time

Winco Accessibility Policy

Good product. Unfortunately, Winco does not allow the same customer to order more than 5 of these plates. Kind of a useless guideline when you want to gift a family of six. Tried a workaround but they canceled the order. Suggest NOT to buy this product in quantity. Bob W Update. I waited a week and was able to give this item to another family of relatives. Reflects the company's clumsy purchasing policy, but recipients seem happy despite the delay. Shop with patience. Four stars.

Pros
  • Kitchen & Dining
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Not easy in the kitchen and dining room

I kept trying to properly clean and season these dishes. They have some kind of coating and the coating is not removed to allow them to be seasoned properly. I have 9 different cast irons and I know how to clean and season them but they won't take them. Any seasoning you try to put on the surface will crust and flake off the food. The build quality seems good, the handles and wooden stand are good, it's just the dish itself. I may have a bad impression but I haven't had any luck with this…

Pros
  • Household and kitchen
Cons
  • boring packaging
