Perfect if you want a quiet

Several reviewers have mentioned this, but for me the biggest benefit is how quiet this thing is! I've tested all the weights and found the 18 oz to be perfect for regular chiselling. You can't tell from the pictures here, but the 12 and 18 oz are the same size, while the 20 and 30 oz have a thicker urethane band around the head, making them taller and heavier. The weight difference between 12/18 and 20/30 is due to the extra metal plugs in the core of the head. For me the extra weight of the…

Great tool. Keeps bits safe and hard at work.

I am new to wood carving and this is my first carving hammer. So far I really like this tool. also really dig with a chisel. I don't really know what the term "abuse" can actually mean in the world of woodcarving, but I've been using it every day since I started and there are no marks on the head and all my chisels are intact, so it's definitely something like that. The best hammer I've ever used. Good price!

I used 12 oz. Hammer "Wood is good" for many years. The head of this hammer still looks new after 15 years. More importantly, the "Wood is Good" urethane head on the hammer also keeps the handles of my expensive arrow woodcarving chisels looking like new. I always thought I should have bought a second Wood is Good hammer. in one of their heavier sizes for use with larger bits. I recently ordered 18oz. one and it's perfect when I need some extra "encouragement" with a wider chisel making harder…

Appearances are deceptive

The picture looks so simple. It's hard to say if it's well made. A plain looking white wooden handle. Plastic top. That's all . But rave reviews. Disappointment. I looked at this hammer for a few months before I bought it. I looked at several alternatives, each costing between $20 and $100 more than the Wood Is Good hammer. However, since I couldn't judge the quality of the Wood Is Good Hammer, $35 seemed too expensive to me. When I started looking outside of Revain I found the same rave…
