Review on πŸ”¨ WD205 Wood Good 18 Ounce Mallet by Phillip Hoover

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Appearances are deceptive

The picture looks so simple. It's hard to say if it's well made. A plain looking white wooden handle. Plastic top. That's all . But rave reviews. Disappointment. I looked at this hammer for a few months before I bought it. I looked at several alternatives, each costing between $20 and $100 more than the Wood Is Good hammer. However, since I couldn't judge the quality of the Wood Is Good Hammer, $35 seemed too expensive to me. When I started looking outside of Revain I found the same rave reviews so I broke down and bought it. This is a BIG hammer! The handle is made from hard maple and finished to a silky smooth finish exactly as stated in the product description. The handle is also very well shaped. I like being able to choke on a pen near my head which is very handy. The density of the urethane is ideal. Very firm, but with the slightest edge. Hitting granite gives the easiest jump. All this means maximum impact efficiency without damaging your tools. 18 is lead weighted in the head (under a soldered maple plug). The hammer is a bit heavy, in a good way. This makes it look like a slightly heavier hammer, but without the overall weight. Highly recommended. Including the more expensive hammers.
