Good basic vise for a beginner carpenter. Insertion is easy if you only hold the part on one side of the clamp. What to expect from a single screw vise at this price point. Just place a slightly smaller piece of pry bar on the other end of the jaw to equalize the pressure and you're done.

This vise is very good value for money and should last a lifetime as far as I can tell. All parts are very heavy, the wood is beautiful and durable, and the carvings are precisely cut. Installation can be tricky upside down, but I was assembling my bench at the time, so I turned the top of the bench over anyway.

Vices work well if you can assemble them. It is designed for a 1.5" solid wood countertop with a significant overhang and no spacers underneath. The description mentions it, so my fault. However, the mounting holes on the vise plate are poorly positioned. Only two of the six mounting holes are accessible from below. I had to bolt it on top and grind nuts and washers to install it.
