Disappointed so far! : Updated

So far I've been missing 2 nuts and bled once and still had air. Now the second time I went to bleed the steering stopped working and no fluid was coming out of one of my bleed holes and there were no leaks. Waiting for support to help or I'll go somewhere else. Update: The company has done a lot of work to fix this product so far and it has worked so far. I will keep you up-to-date.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Boring packaging

The best product I have ever bought for my 94ft skater boat.

Made my fishing so much easier. It cost money. The hardest part was getting the hydraulic lines through the body of my 94m 20ft skeeter, but it wasn't that bad. Pull your old ones out with a little string on each one so you can thread the new hydraulic hoses back in. Swap out the handlebars for a smaller one so you can slide your feet underneath and it works great. The hydraulic steering is much more responsive.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Are you using all Chinese fittings or something else?

This product works great using the included Chinese ORB connectors. The rubber O-rings for this steering pump are oversized compared to Baystar/Seastar. If you're trying to install a Lowrance autopilot like me, the fittings included in the kit are for Baystar/Seastar steering pumps. This steering pump will leak if you use Seastar ORB T fittings. Chinese brands use much larger rubber o-rings. Hence the leaks.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No instructions

Doesn't hold pressure, sloppy steering

Mounted on a fully welded 21" aluminum 150hp boat. Mercury, and the steering wheel turns very tight, and when the motor is turned fully on both sides of the steering wheel, the rudder slowly jumps with a clicking sound, if the pressure is not held, the device has been expertly adjusted and properly bled several times my pontoon boat has a fill star and you can turn it with one finger and the wheel will stop when the motor is turned fully left or right. I guess you get what you pay for, now Iโ€ฆ

Do you remember the first time you drove a car with power steering? So

Turn the steering wheel with one finger against both hands. I recommend this control box. And for reasons I won't go into detail, I had to install it on a boat in the water. I do not recommend this. I have everything fitted ie hydraulic cylinders on the engine, hoses stretched as I pulled the cables and the dash is cut out for the steering wheel. So I stand in the middle of my boat and screw the choke in the back of the rudder. I figured it would be easier than installing them after theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quality build
Cons
  • Expensive

Left and right side are marked wrong!

So I thought I should buy a Seastar or Baystar for my 1985 20ft Mako CC. Steering cable changed twice. I decided to risk it for half the price of an industry standard Seastar. The device makes a solid, well-made impression. The hydraulic lines were twice as long as I needed, requiring several additional loops of hydraulic line under my console. Luckily my boat has two sections of PVC from the console to the hold. I was lucky not to have to fish both hydraulic lines along with all my electricalโ€ฆ

  • Great for me
