I was considering buying a glass dispenser as I just started using silk floss since it has been known that some dental floss is made from bad chemicals like Teflon. Anyway, I bought it and my family loves it. The dispenser is made of metal and will not break if dropped. The floss is worth the extra cost as it is very strong and does a great job of cleaning your teeth before brushing. I have the unflavored version, works very well. I also had no problem with it breaking and I have small gaps between my teeth! The container is fine, but I've found that the end tends to slide back into the hole instead of staying in a little notch after it's cut. It's okay, I'm used to holding it with my thumb and cutting off a piece. This seems to prevent later slipping. I am overall very happy with the product and look forward to buying again when it runs out.

Taking into account all the complaints of breakage and shredding I've read on here , I didn't expect this thread to work so well. I found it just as durable, effective and easy to use as the nylon material. But. It arrived in a box many times larger than the product if an envelope would have sufficed. I was skeptical of other reviews about the durability of this thread. Unfortunately, because it is _designed_ to break so as not to suffocate wild animals, this also means it is not as durable as nylon thread. I think this could probably be overcome by using a thicker strand or some sort of braid. This should provide an increase in durability as it degrades in the environment.
