A total of 4 of these picked up (and returned) (two at a time), and each of them had no connector on one side of the "Y", i think it's a bad batch.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. I bought this to connect 2 IEM packs to one IEM (in-ear monitor). Does exactly that, and the build quality is good. I can highly recommend the product.

My friend stated that he bought a new one from Walmart which works much better and he thinks is of better quality.

I've used it to connect 2 ham radios to an external speaker in my house and it does exactly what it says it will. You'll notice a slight drop in volume, but not a significant one (depending on your device's audio output, of course). Works great for what I use it for.
