I love this knife. However, caution should be exercised when purchasing as the blade is below the actual base and is not covered. I almost cut my thumb trying to get the knife out of the box because I didn't know. If you buy one I would suggest making a cloth pad or something to walk on the blade as that is a risk/responsibility. As for the performance of the device, there are absolutely no complaints. I was so happy to get this paper cutter for our office. I laminate a lot and cut 11 x 18 pages. Spring. I put in my first page, put my hand down, and all she did was fold the page. Use it in my vinyl shop to cut vinyl graphics. Works perfectly. Sharp blade. Definitely a time saver when you do a lot of repetitive work. The only downside to this knife compared to one of our previous cutters is that it doesn't have a spring-loaded hinge. Our previous cutter's hinge had a spring that raised the handle when released.
