I could have gotten a bad set but after two years I've finally traced all the annoying problems with my computer to this component. The problem with bad RAM is that there is no real indication that they are the problem but they cause a whole bunch of annoying issues like blue screen of death (BSOD), browser tab crash, game crash, application crash, stuttering, visual disturbances and so on. Although I could have used cheaper memory modules, I chose them because the manufacturer specifically named certain memory brands/modes that worked well with my setup. I'm glad I followed the recommendation. I ended up buying it again, so now I have 4 x 8GB memory modules.
