Quickly agreed. That is hard! I put a new Royal Hybrid mattress on it. The only thing we notice is that the mattress at the head and foot end of the bed tends to fall into the hole. The frame is slightly larger around the mattress. So watch your kneecaps and toes. This is the second one I've bought. Storage space under the bed is a big plus. Plenty of space to organize your stuff out of sight.

I love the strength and quiet(?) of this frame. It was also very easy to assemble. The size doesn't exactly match the length, but I mix Ikea box springs (because I wanted more height) and a Purple mattress. The mattress is tight. I filled the gap (which would be a lot smaller if there was just a mattress) with durable foam from an art supply store.
