This worked well in my purple vacuum. The part number is the same except for the last two digits after the hyphen. The last two digits refer to the color, so this also works with other color vacuums.

It snaps right into place. My squad was DC07 Pet. All my spare parts are different colors which is fun. 1- Place the original vacuum's spring on the back of the replacement locking handle over the "X" element. 2- Hook the two round holes on the vacuum cleaner locking handle. 3 - Twist the ribbed top of the handle under the ribbed "protrusion" of the wand.

The part is similar to the original and can be easily mounted on the handle if both hinge pins are intact. However, the part does not fit exactly on the base. When you press the handle, the latch clicks but doesn't hold. If you try to lift the vacuum, the handle will just pop out of the base.
