My grandchildren are very picky about their shoes and have switched quite a few pairs from other brands this year. This is the prettiest couple and looks set to last the rest of the school year. I live on sandy gravel roads and it's hard to find good walking shoes for short, wide feet. That is the answer. The fit is comfortable and the wide toe box really helps. The grip on the bottom keeps me from slipping and sliding over gravel and sand, even on steep slopes. And most importantly, they don't catch gravel in the treads like my other hiking shoes do.
