Description of YITAMOTOR Catalytic Converter Compatible Compliant Replacement Parts

Vehicle fitment: compatible with 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 Prius 1.5L (Note: Not ship to California & Colorado). High conversion rate: honeycomb 400-cell ceramic substrates with a metal coating of catalysts provide a larger surface area for high airflow and purification efficiency. Heat-resistant & anti-rust: a stainless steel shell encases the substrate to reduce expansion and distortion when the converter reaches its high reaction temperature; the ceramic substrates resist heat to avoid melting, clogging or cracking. Direct-fit design: to get the right fit for your exhaust system, our precisely-built laser-cutting flanges ensure easier bolt-on installation; gasket and hardware included. Federal EPA certified: every YITAMOTOR catalytic converter meets federal EPA standard, and its body is stamped with an exclusive EPA number, ensuring added durability & reliability. (NOTE: Professional installation would be highly recommended).

The main disadvantage of catalytic converters

Most of this product is good, but it has one major drawback. The rear end of the tube is not tapered to match the OEM tube diameter. As a result, the supplied U-clamp will not work. To make matters worse, there doesn't seem to be any easy off the shelf options to fit a 53mm pipe (this product) to a 43mm pipe (OEM). I recommend avoiding this product and buying another one that has a cone at the rear or some other proven OEM exhaust attachment method.

Pros
  • Heat resistance and anti-rust: A stainless steel shell covers the substrate to reduce expansion and deformation when the catalytic converter reaches a high reaction temperature; Ceramic substrates are heat resistant to avoid melting, clogging or cracking.
