4-bay non-raid version is a great product

Very nice construction. Very easy to install and remove discs. The fan is VERY quiet. I loaded 3 rotating drives and they are just as fast for large file transfers over USB 3.0 as they are on my internal SATA. The chassis even stops drives after 15 minutes of inactivity. The only thing I have is that the "Activity Indicators" are barely visible. Overall a really good product for the price.

Good backup device, best hard drive accessory

I use this to store 5 backup drives. - Good Looks good and is well built Stays connected (USB connection doesn't drop) Good transfer speed (USB 3) Easy to install drives - Poor power button on the back making it difficult to turn on and off. Power/activity light on the back where it's completely useless For drives to spin up and be recognized by PCI, it sometimes takes about a minute to unplug and reinsert the USB cable for it to be recognized (or the hardware rescanned becomes). All drives are

Poor build, no support

My device's fan started making an awfully loud noise. I contacted their support team and didn't hear from them for several weeks. I chased after them and they asked for a video showing the problem. At this point I had removed the discs and placed them in a more secure unit, but I took out a few more discs and put them in to film the video. After seeing the video they said they would send me a replacement. It's been a month and I still haven't received a replacement. I asked them again via email

Good cheap case, with one caveat

I use this to run 4 x 8TB hard drives that used to be in separate external cases. The only disturbing aspect of the product is the cumbersome design of the power button. which, in the delivery condition, must be operated manually every time the switch is switched off. This would not be acceptable in my application (inside a rack). So I experimented and found that the device works the way I want it to - when it's on, when the power button is held in the "on" position. , the body loads. So I…

I should have listened to other 1 star reviews

Stay away, at least if you're using a newer Mac. I use Catalina so that's the point. I downloaded their software and disabled hibernation for the box, check it out. The hard drive initialized flawlessly, the R5 was formatted flawlessly, the read/write speeds were around 220/240 which is exactly what I expected so I downloaded around 4TB of data which went through fine. Relax. Went home, returned to the office the next day and the computer turned off. Hm. I had to do a hard reboot. Drive is not…

  • Big and bulky

Doesn't support UASP

UASP is definitely not supported (see lsusb output below for proof). It only supports USB bulk transfers. That being said, the speeds were still pretty fast with the spinning disk I tested it with. The door is not in the middle of the frame, which is causing my OCD. The exhaust air fan is obstructed too much by the artful exhaust air screen. This makes the fan run louder than it should. That means removing the fan from this grill makes it quieter. I wouldn't want to sit next to it all day every

Pros
  • High support and durability ratings from testers
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Second purchase good for hard drive accessories

I have a 4 bay system, couldn't justify paying almost double the price for an additional bay. I loaded all 4 bays with 2TB Western Digital Red drives. A USB 3 port connected to a USB 3 hub, and even through a hub, transfer speeds are excellent. None of the drives or enclosures gave me any major problems, and only once did I have an issue that a reboot fixed immediately. .Some have mentioned that the power indicator is on the back, which is true, but I don't find that bothersome, in fact I…
