Better Quality Control Needed

The tool is square and the holes are precise. HOWEVER, the markings on the ruler are WRONG. If you look closely at the image, you will see that the marks before and after the "4" line are inclined towards the 4" line. The same is true for the 1" and 8" lines. It will marketed as a precision marking tool. Measured with two Incra rulers and indeed the dimensions of this tool differ by 1/32" at the 8" mark. I returned the original and got a replacement. The defect is the same as the replacement…

Pros
  • A Handy Tool A square ruler is just what you need for marking and measuring along the edge of a board or other work piece. Fine marker holes on each scale line allow you to find a sharp pencil point or mark right on the target with no uncertainty and no eye strain!
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Yes, the lead goes in the holes.

I don't know what kind of pencil people use who complain that the holes are too small to fit the lead. If you're marking to within 1/32nd, you probably aren't trying a carpenter's pencil meant for framing. Every reworking carpenter knows: The sharper the line, the more precise the cut can be. My square came out square every square I tested it against. My only complaint is that the holes could have been marked a lot more clearly. It took me a minute to figure out what the turn was. In my…

Great tool and price! **Update**

Received it yesterday and checked its movements between last night and this morning. Highlights: 1. When used like a square, it really is a square! 2. The marking holes work very well. The holes accept a lead size of 0.5, 0.7 or 0.9 and the side of the ruler has a slight chamfer at the entrance. The .9 works very well and the thicker lead doesn't break easily. 3. The rule slides easily (after all, that's what it was designed for). 4. The sides slope downwards, which largely eliminates the…

Pros
  • Rule T for fine staking. Precise marker lines help you draw perfect horizontal lines as you move the rulers along the working edge. Finely mark holes and grooves and mark accurately on target, making the woodworking ruler your ideal tool.
Cons
  • Got nuances
