Not a real siren

At first I couldn't add it to smart things. I plugged it into the wall (doesn't come with a power cord) and added it to my hub. When I checked the device in smartthings, the battery level was at 20% right out of the box. Siren is very, very weak. You can easily talk right next to him with the siren on. Not sure if this will wake you up with the bedroom door closed. Doesn't deter criminals at all. You will definitely need one on each level of the house. Save money on a "real" siren.

Pros
  • Security and surveillance
Cons
  • Poor guidance

I could easily combine it with smart things. I ended up using a device handler for the dome siren. This device handler was automatically selected when I added the device since I already had a dome siren. If you need a device handler, google it. If you don't know how to load a custom device handler into the SmartThings IDE, this siren probably isn't for you. Another reviewer said it doesn't come with a power cord. Good Basic Z-Wave Siren

I was looking for a basic Z-Wave Siren to replace a failed siren in my home automation system. This can be operated with mains or battery. So it will be an improvement over a dead one that runs on battery. I found this siren to work as expected. Right out of the box, I was able to connect to the network and get it up and running with no issues. Siren settings were easy to adjust to choose volume and tone (I used a loud police siren tone and switched to a quieter tune to test). I want to use AC…

  • Could have chosen a newer model
