Zoo Med Reptile Mopani Aquariums Review

If you are using this for a reptile enclosure you will really need to use a file to remove the sharp ends. This is a really good mold resistant wood but it is sharp in nature. I would also put it in the 300 oven for 20 minutes to disinfect it just in case.

This is the first time I've seen a mopani wood float. Ordered a 125 gallon two component medium. Both parts floated when I put them in the tank. One sank within minutes and the other was taken to a bucket for further soaking. The Zoo Meds website even says "Mopani is sinking." It makes me wonder what I actually got.

I've got some really great stuff so I'm not entirely disappointed but it's definitely not the length they were talking about. Other than that, it was a lot cheaper than my local pet store, which sells the same thing for around $30. When I first cooked for 4 hours without the rind, my tank was still very clean. Cooking in the dark for 4 hours gave me a slightly yellowish tinge. I actually liked the look.

Great pieces of wood! My catfish love it. We have 2 medium sized parts and while they vary one is perfect for our 39 gallon tank and the other works great in our 55 gallon tank. It already has a middle part that was ordered beforehand. I suggest ordering 2 medium packs for those with 55 gallon tanks for less. So you have 2 options as they are all different.
