First, what everyone says is mostly true. It works well in probably 99% of the boxes. However, I've installed a couple of boxes at home that are either slightly out of spec or of this thing. It seems to work with other boxes, but all of my outer ones don't indicate holes.

I bought these because the store fixtures I bought had mounting holes that weren't wide enough for 4" work boxes and the holes were misaligned for my application. The panels had enough threaded holes to find a match and I was able to install the lights in the correct orientation. The large hole in the center allowed me to easily place the wires in the work box after making the connections.

These rings are ideal for reinforcing the narrow legs of coffee tables and coffee tables that need to distribute force. We broke two tables with broken leg mounts because people couldn't tear themselves away from them. I thought we were unlucky until I discovered that these braces slide perfectly down the leg. After repairing and reinforcing the wood with some wood glue, I used two of these rings on each leg to create a distributed load that would withstand children and neglected relatives…
