Plug and Play: Computers and Accessories

I've worked with MANY CAC readers over the years. This reader seriously connects and works on Windows 10. I've done absolutely nothing! No driver updates, no additional downloads. If you work for the US Department of Defense and are looking for a CAC reader that works right out of the box, this is the solution! I think I paid $12. Money well spent!

Works fine after loading software/certs

After loading software everything works relatively well. I have a Mac Air so downloading the correct certificates for my shared card was a bit tricky (I had to google and youtube how to do it). I also had to use Google Chrome to get the websites I needed. Safari didn't work.

DoD Civilian Use in Memory Card Accessories

I can authenticate to websites such as myPay, Defense Travel, and Defense Acquisition using the Zoweetek DoD military USB CAC reader in combination with my public access card. However, I cannot authenticate myself on other government sites using this CAC reader model. I give the device 3 stars because it really works. It all depends on how the website authenticates your credentials. With a Windows-based workstation, by the way.

Worked on first try: Memory card accessory

Plugged in and was automatically recognized by Windows 10. I didn't use the drivers that came with it. It automatically showed up in device manager. For the application I used the CardOS API and the Card Manager. He had no problem reading the card. It has an LED inside the chart that lights up when in use. I am using this over KVM so I can change the access card between multiple systems. Seems to be working great. I'll come back if she dies early or if anything goes wrong. So far, I am very…

Excellent product best in computers and accessories

I am very happy with this product. No more trouble positioning my smart card to possibly read it. This thing works, works well and works the first time. Aside from the product itself, the software support was also very easy to navigate. I couldn't use the CD that came with the reader to install the required driver, so I had to download it instead. The company's website made this easy by showing images of various devices that acted as links to the necessary drivers. No long list of executables…

Compared to most; It's worth it.

I have owned several different smart readers over the past 8+ years. All of them either have a few problems or a bunch of problems. This one surprised me because I only have one. In terms of usability 10/10, like most. After downloading the necessary drivers, simply plug in the card and carry on. No BS. I haven't had any issues with the card not being recognized or accidentally not working. But having said that... I had an issue with it not reading/working properly due to a wiring issue where…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Works great with my MacBook Air

Now that many of us federal employees are working from home, I need to access my work email from my Mac every day. Unfortunately my government provided CAC reader recently died so luckily I was able to locate this very affordable reader. Comes with a CD with drivers. But if your computer doesn't read discs, it doesn't matter. Go to the website, type the model number in the search box and you will quickly download the drivers. My Mac recognized this reader right away, so that was a relief too…
