Review on 🖥️ ASUS VS247H-P 23.6" 1920X1080 Monitor - LED Display, 60Hz, HD by George Ware

It usually takes me a lot more time to research and evaluate such products before making a decision. My previous monitor, the Samsung 224, died quickly and I didn't have time for a thorough evaluation. I urgently needed a monitor. Samsung was only 6 years old and after more recent research I found that this particular model was prone to premature capacitor failure rendering an expensive monitor unusable. Just a few weeks ago, I learned that Samsung refrigerators made for at least the last 8 years are prone to design flaws that render $1,000-2,000 refrigerators useless. Mine died less than 2 years later. I noticed a trend that Samsung is making products that they don't stand behind, so I decided to look for another brand to replace my computer monitor. Asus wasn't a brand that made my list or even came close. But I've found them to be exceptionally well received for business use and have a pretty good reputation. Revain reports that this particular model, the VS247H-P, is their #1 bestseller. it means something to me The price (when I bought it) was under $140 after the discount, which sounded like a great price for a 24-inch computer monitor. WHAT I LIKE: It uses LEDs instead of fluorescent lights. In theory, they should last much longer. It's very light - The screen backlight is very even - My monitor didn't have any dead pixels or hot pixels WHAT I DON'T WANT: - As others have pointed out, the stand is very wobbly. ASUS advises people to tighten the screws, but this is NOT a problem, the screws are as tight as possible, this is a design issue. I would advise Celeste at ASUS to actually touch one of the monitors rather than responding via script. I'm not sure what's going on, but the text isn't clear on Windows 7. Some characters are dark and some are light. On an otherwise excellent display, I don't see why the text isn't up to standard. EDIT: After owning the monitor for about a week and playing around with ClearType (Windows) a lot, I was able to make it look really good, but not quite as good as Samsung.- The digital cable that came with it was dead the box. There is no signal at all. When I used my old digital cable it worked great. Not a deal breaker, but come on Asus. Control your suppliers better! It would be nice if Asus would replace the dead cable. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Actual physical dimensions aren't clearly listed on either the Revain or Asus websites, so I measured them. The external dimensions are 22 inches wide x 13.25 inches high and measure 16.25 inches when mounted on the included table stand. The screen size when switching from the old "TV" format, which is square rather than rectangular, or buying widescreen formats when they first came out is VERY wide: 20.5 inches wide and just 11.5 inches high, with a viewable diagonal of 23 inches by 0.5 inches. The height of the screen itself is almost identical to my old 22" Samsung monitor which was 14". Comparing the square inches of the new widescreen to the old widescreen, the 24-inch Asus is 235.75 and the 22-inch Samsung is 217.375. A lot of this is debatable since that medium widescreen is all but gone, but I'm referring to it because I think a lot of people expect a 24" monitor to be MUCH larger than a 22" monitor, even though it is actually so is basically just bigger in width. This is my first time using 2 page mode in applications like MS Word and I find the wider format useful in Excel. But for video and photo editing, I liked the old "widescreen" format better. SUMMARY: It's impossible to rate this monitor for build quality or durability after only using it for a couple of weeks. I think that's a great value. It is intended to be sold as a "deal" business monitor and offers great value (ie the 3 most common types of video input) for the price. And it comes with a 3 year warranty which is outstanding in today's world. It's well made, I didn't have a single dead pixel, the brightness is very consistent from edge to edge, viewing from an angle is pretty good (although there's a slight redshift to the right and blueshift to the left). The controls are intuitive and easy to use even in a darkened room, and once I had them attached to the wall mount I had no complaints (if you want to use the included stand mount it's hardly sufficient, but then again most modern monitors come with it relatively cheap table stands). Finally, when switched off, the pilot lamp changes color from soft blue to deep amber. This is good if you have a monitor in your bedroom or guest room. Too many monitors use a blindingly bright blue light, or worse, one that flickers when turned off. AND . favorite callus. Unlike some brands, the brand logo is VERY discreet and there are subtle 'special' markings on the front. I still don't see the need for manufacturers to show you their ads AFTER you've bought their product. The bottom line is that I got the best bang for my buck (obviously most Revain customers would agree) so my recommendation is this. take action.
