I got this gem for $89 after a $20 rebate from Asus. How can you go wrong with a $89 24-inch Asus?! Arrived yesterday and connected straight away. Packaging - The Asus Boxed Monitor is very well packaged, Revain put it in a LOT of large cardboard box making it very safe to ship. - Assembly - It took 30 seconds to pull out. round table stand and attach the already part of the monitor to the neck stand. To my surprise, the panel had a large screw with a slot for a flathead screwdriver. But there is a small turning knob attached to the screw, lift it up and you just use it to turn the screw and fasten the plate to the neck. , then fold back the swivel and you're done! Every 30 seconds, an incredibly nice touch for such a cheap monitor. The picture here is not what I expected, there are 4 or 5 presets that you get by pressing a button. For viewing windows this looks perfect on all settings, absolutely no problem. but then i put the movie on dvd and also checked revain prime and netflix. I don't know who came up with each of these values but they are all terrible, 3 of them make the monitor look blurry like a late 70's VHS tape and the other 2, landscape and theater add I think add some color, but they're over-contrasted and saturated, although after watching the film on Scenario it doesn't seem that bad. But they really stink. I suggest you do what I did, go through the menu system and make note of the color, contrast and brightness settings for each, find one that's close to what you can stomach and tweak it then according to your wishes. After that I was happy. The instructions are terrible, just a description of the specific function for each and then their own set of functions for working with the menu system. I say they are terrible because they only did that and there is no explanation of the terminology or anything else on the menu. I'm not a beginner. I'll search the site for a better explanation of "great" or "great". Some sort of automatic controls you can play around with I guess? However, not a great success. Features and Stuff - I was quite surprised to see that VGA and DVI cables came with the power cable. There's no HDMI cable, which I wasn't expecting, and VGA and DVI are big pluses for a budget monitor. (hence VGA, DVI means HDMI inputs). Aside from the nifty rotating screw, the stand also allows you to move it up and down and it stays in place well, unlike other unwanted monitors that just fall off and stay there. VESA mounts are shocking at this level, as more expensive monitors from other major brands don't include them. There is also a headphone jack which is very nice, audio over HDMI. This is great because all monitor speakers really stink, just read a review from whoever has them, so instead of adding value and wasting money on features you can use, Asus adds a quality headphone interface that you can then use can use. your headphones or send a wired or wireless signal to your GOOD speakers. There are 5 buttons on the bottom right for control, for power, contrast, brightness, menu and something else I can't remember, and then the menu control function. The menu is fairly extensive, allowing you a lot of control, and you can also tweak the sound from there, a place that's regularly not easy to get to, so just set once and then use your source or speakers to tweak. If you're driving speakers don't set this setting to the highest level but rather to the max to mid level because the higher you go the more distortion you get and the same concept of amp and preamp lets the amp do all the work. workload. 2ms is very fast and again unexpected at this point in the process but I'm not a gamer but it will be a prominent feature in action movies that I watch a lot. Monitor! 24 inches, plenty of room for all the windows I opened for tech, and a big screen for watching movies, and your 16:9 photos and home videos will look like never before. Tilt stand - Vesa mount support, 3 video ports - audio and Asus quality - all for $89. No problem, even $109 is more than worth it. I'll probably take another one. A word from reviewers who complain about picture quality - spend more money and buy a better monitor, being so picky about video quality here is like buying a 110hp 4-cylinder engine. and complaining that you can't compete with the 754 hp Dodge Hellcat. My eyes suck anyway so there is no need to buy a high end monitor, even if you have good eyesight you will love this monitor.
