Review on πŸ–₯️ ASUS VS247H-P 23.6" 1920X1080 Monitor - LED Display, 60Hz, HD by Chris Chongbang

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very nice: my review

Really good monitor, I give it 4.5 stars, tried several IPS displays but I couldn't stand them due to backlight bleeding. Upgraded from my 21.5" Asus VH222H 2 year old. The price is cheap considering the size and when it's on sale. If you're paying full price for it then it's a good deal performance wise but I would waiting for a sale. The size is 23.6" tall, you can't get past that. It's significantly larger than my 21.5" monitor, especially since my desk isn't very deep. LED backlighting. Okay, I have a bit of a problem with that here. The backlighting itself is excellent, more than bright enough and evenly white. If the Screen is black, there is some backlight bleeding around the edges, but not very big and not noticeable unless it's really black and your room is dark. My second problem is that there seems to be a warm up time? I thought there would be no such thing as an LED.But when I turn on the monitor in the morning in cold weather, dark spots appear on the screen which disappear after a few minutes.I would give minus 1/2 stars for that and bleeding because my Asus CCFL monitor related to this Better is Viewing angles are Good for a standard display I've used Dell Ultrasharp and LG IPS displays, of course this monitor can't keep up with normal deviation viewing angle (e.g. B. + - 30 degrees horizontally and + - 20 degrees vertically), you will not notice much difference. e against IPS. There's a little shift here and there, but it's not really noticeable unless you're looking at a full purple screen or something. IPS, on the other hand, looks great from almost +-90 degrees, but how often do you need it? Design and screen - I personally like it. It's minimal, with hidden buttons and a small blue and orange circle to show if it's on or in standby. The frame is glossy but the screen is matte. Antiglare isn't aggressive, so it doesn't have the same issues as the Dell Ultrasharp. I also like his profile, it's not very thin but has a nice curve. Games - I've used it for Starcraft 2 and Skyrim and I have to say it works very well. There are no problems here. Screen Quality - Well, very good when set/calibrated. Let's start with the fact that I didn't like it at all. Washed out look and boring. However, I've changed the settings in the menu and also used Windows 7 display calibration and it's very, very nice. Deep, rich colors, fairly accurate whites and dark blacks. I recommend going to [.] to adjust contrast and gamma. Connections - with HDMI, DVI and VGA this got me hooked. One thing I appreciate is that the power supply is built into the monitor so I can plug it in with a standard power cord. Although it has neither USB nor speakers, it does not concern me. Use a stand, I bought a desktop stand instead which works well as this monitor has a VESA mount. Otherwise the stand would be a problem. I like the full customization. Energy efficiency - really impressed here. I tried a Dell U2312HM (23" LED IPS monitor) and it used about 25W at about 45% brightness, my old Asus VH222H used about 33W at normal brightness (no LED) but this one uses 15 W. @50% brightness. Considering this screen is larger than the other two, that's quite an achievement. Please note that IPS monitors require more power. It also consumes 9.7W at 0% brightness and 20W at 100% brightness. But you would use 50%. All in all a great monitor. My only problem is the dark spots during warm up. Otherwise it works fine and looks great.---Edit 12/31/11 Thank you. Thanks to Revain's generous exchange policy, I received a replacement for my original VS247H. This one is perfect, no more dark spots on the screen when the monitor "warms up". 5/5 stars
