Almost silent best in internals

I used to order a high speed version of this fan that moves a lot of air, but I needed a different fan that was very quiet and gave this model a try. While the low-speed model doesn't move as much air (40% less), it's virtually silent. It moves enough air for my purposes. These AC Infinity fans are very well made and durable, they are rated for 62,000 hours, which is seven years of continuous use. By the way, I fell about 8 feet installing this fan and it still works, so it's very durable.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • unreliable

Quality Product in Computers & Accessories

This is a quality industrial and commercial equipment product. Keep in mind that "quiet" has a slightly different meaning in this context - if you're considering it for use in a home office or break room, there are plenty of quieter options out there. On the other hand, AC Infinity makes the speed (and noise) dial accessible to techies. A little note on assembly: The chassis is made of aluminium. The supplied bolts are quite long, but a bit "thin". What's really cool is that standard 10-32…

SUPER QUIET AND BEAUTIFUL

Very well built (and very quiet) but didn't move enough air for my exhaust fan application. I returned it and bought the 1238 (higher speed) which is a bit noisier as it moves a lot more air. If you are unsure what to buy I recommend purchasing the 1238 (higher speed) with an additional speed controller also available on AMAZON.COM. The LS1238 is probably perfect for mounting a computer or electronics (or even as a personal desktop fan). I believe these fans will last a very long time. I've…

120 volts, detachable cord and almost silent!

I use six of these fans in my 30 square meter apartment. ft. They circulate the air inside and release air when the internal temperature or humidity gets too high. I was very impressed with the quality of the fans. They consist of a heavy metal frame (no plastic!). And the only sound is air movement. The fans have a built in two pin plug which also has a detachable 120 volt cord attached. Once the cable is connected, the cable/fan combo looks pretty neat. Even with the cable connected, the fan…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Functionality

Before I bought my first Axial fan, I bought over half a dozen USB-powered 2-watt fans from multiple brands. USB powered fans seemed like a good deal. I've used them 24/7 to circulate air in humid rooms and to cool overheated electrical equipment. Only two of them worked for a year before they stopped working again and I have to check these two out regularly. Axial 120V 8-9W fans are a better deal as they are quiet and reliable. Update: I now have 5 AC Infinity AXIAL LS1238 fans running. 2 of…

High quality fan: computer components

I bought a 120mm AC Infinity LS1238 low speed fan to cool my home AV receiver. The receiver is housed in a wooden case with minimal clearance at the top, bottom and back of the receiver. This created a situation where the receiver got very hot in a confined space even though the front of the case was open. I used a 5" hole saw to cut a hole in the back of the case and mounted this fan to the 1/4" plywood back of the case from the outside. The fan plugs into the receiver's 120V switched outlet…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models

Lots of air, more noise than expected

Fan looks very high quality. I was surprised at the weight of the package. It turns out that the frame is metal and not plastic like most computer cupcake fans. The cable was a bit difficult to install. The pins did not fit perfectly with the fitting. Position it so you can see the pins and socket at the same time and you shouldn't have too much trouble aligning it. Don't expect them to slide smoothly. It could be a "low speed" fan, but of course that's relative. It moves a lot of air. Turning…

solid and well made

My application is a cabinet that houses a NAS, printer, cable modem, switch and a few other heat-generating extras. The floor to ceiling cabinet is virtually airtight - very poor airflow and you can imagine the problems. The first point of attachment was on the outside bottom of the case (air was sucked in around the case legs and pushed up through the case. There was a slight obstruction above the fan inside which caused the fan to run and make more noise than expected. The fan has been moved…

This fan blows. Lots of air!

So yes, this fan is well made and moves a decent amount of air. I wanted a fan to circulate air around my router, fiber optic modem, NAS enclosure, etc. because even though everything is on the shelf, the lack of airflow causes everything to just go out. Now everything is much cooler, so the fan does its job. My only complaint (which has a fix) is that air movement inherently creates noise. When things are really quiet, you can definitely notice the faint hum of the running fan, and the amount…
