Great patina remedy for making ugly things beautiful

I love Modern Masters reactive paints and patina solutions. I've used it for many things and it always comes out beautiful. I have never injected it. I apply the solution while the second coat of copper paint is still wet. This is the key. Do not let the second coat dry before applying it. Also, I leave it overnight and if there's an area I don't like, I add some more copper paint and this solution. I have attached two photos of two mirrors that I have patinated.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥

  • Lots of things

Pretty good at consumables and paint tools

When you get to the level of creating your own patina from scratch you will find that products like these are a bit "watered down" and give them power and lack sharpness. It offers a pretty decent patina when effective, although I like the patina green tones, which can fall into the "apple green" range - it just isn't strong enough for that kind of effect. However, it is a good complement and I can easily "extend" my homemade moonshine by using it and tempering the power of others. Also, the…

Good patina, light, but there are better ones.

Very easy patina to use. I didn't use their reactive paint, I just applied it directly to brass and copper. This is quick and easy, but the blue is lighter than the blue. That might be fine for some purposes, but I like the ammonia evaporation process that produces a darker, richer blue. You simply place the product in a sealed container of ammonia, but support it so it doesn't touch the ammonia. This product works better in patches or with some sanding to highlight the metal than a uniform…

Recommended: Materials and tools for painting

I used Modern Masters Copper reactive paint for metal. My only complaint is that the bottle had to come with some sort of dispenser, atomizer or dropper. I used it in an old hair product bottle (after washing it thoroughly) and the pattern was too stained; The patina looked like it came from an airbrush when it was supposed to look random. However, it worked well against copper paint. When applied thickly on wet paint it turns a light patinated blue-green colour. Light use and mixing into the…

Great with blue

This wasn't a great green for me on its own. I tried it on raw copper (not a copper reactive paint) and the green was very dark so it didn't show up that well. However, it added some nice colors in the darker area. What helped me the most was making a soup (don't mix too much, just shake a little) on my copper plate with this product and Miracle Grow Concentrate. Together they made such a beautiful blue-green mix. An alternative to this product is to place the item in a basket of sawdust soaked

Hack with caution!

Okay, I bought the wrong color for this item due to a lack of attention to detail. Twice. Here is a link to the correct color it responds with https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0009JNERS/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So I bought these because I love the copper I like the patina look and recently bought a motorcycle. I replaced every part I could with sheet copper, but couldn't with the gas tank. So I decided to try the system. I like the rough look. After applying it according to the instructions…
