The long bed is great

Have not had a chance to use it a great deal, but so far I really like it. I bought it to replace an older, shorter bed, Grizzly 6" jointer. As far as I am concerned, a long bed makes all of the difference in getting a truely straight edge. I didn't really need the 8" width but the long bed is a must. The spiral cutterhead is great because the blades don't have to be adjusted.It takes longer to put it together than suggested, but I didn't run into any problems with any of the parts. I…

Spiral cutter is best

I bought this 18 months ago as an upgrade to a 6" jointer with standard knives. I looked at quite a few other brands and picked Shop Fox for the price, positive reviews, the number of cutters on the head and built in mobile base. This machine does an excellent job flattening boards and jointing edges. It cuts very smooth and accurately and glue-ups are much improved over my old machine.

  • While the spiral cutterhead design is great for reducing noise and creating a smoother finish, it requires more maintenance than traditional cutterheads. If you're not up for cleaning the blades regularly, this jointer may not be the best option for you
