We have a large electric blanket, very soft and smooth, so we put it in the duvet cover to keep it from slipping off the bed. They don't come off without a magnetic "key" and they didn't come off in the first week of use. The key is easy to use, but sometimes the pen does not disassemble immediately, and you need to convince. However, I managed to get them on all the boxes. They aren't the prettiest in the world as they are clear plastic on one side (we have the big pack) and on the other side is a large opaque plastic handle. We had to decide which side we'd rather be on the inside and which side we'd rather be on the outside. We chose to have the flat side inside the duvet to avoid the inconvenience of the side protruding against us. However, so far they have worked. It's nice that there are so many of these that there can be multiple pens on each side of the bed.
