More like a 3:1 fire seal

In my experience the product does not stretch 5:1. More like 3:1. The product does not come with a mixing attachment that is required for operation. I ended up having to buy a box of accessories separately, way more than I needed. Otherwise an excellent product.

Pros
  • Excellent adhesion and no backing required when applied to walls or floors
Cons
  • Expensive

Good product bad price

Foam is not far for the price. 3M products rarely disappoint, but their cost should be reduced. Abesco makes a similar product but cheaper. Although I like the product, it will not replace its competitor. My rating is really based on the range of the tube and the price. Another problem is that after 3-4 tubes of a manual dispenser, the hand hurts. The battery dispenser is bulky.

Pros
  • Can be painted with primer
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Expensive, but worth the labor savings.

I have been using this foam fire protection on commercial construction sites for over a year. This is a great product. The foaming action really makes it easier to seal wires and pipes as it fills gaps better than traditional fireproof plugs. When it comes to sealing bundles of wires like data cables this is the best product I have used. It's more expensive than fire candles, but the labor savings are worth the extra cost.

Pros
  • Reintroduced and repairable foam remains malleable after installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
