Part will not fit existing wiring harness

Bought this part to replace the turn signal switch on my '69 Corvette C3 with non-tilt/telescopic steering column, said to fit all '69-76 models with this steering column. This switch looked like a product when I took it out of the AC Delco box but when we tried to connect the wire connector to the existing wire harness it didn't fit, the new connector is different, see photo. Actually the switch is ok.

Steering wheel puller required

They fail unnoticed. Odd signal or no signal. The tail light sometimes doesn't work. They also break with age. Remove the steering wheel cover and the horn button connector. Pull the steering wheel. Unscrew the nut. Compress the spring and remove the bracket. rope or wire for the strap and gently pull it out. Reverse procedure for installation. Simple and straightforward with the right tools and experience.

original part. Works as it should

First I bought a non original switch. Doesn't work for me. The left signal was not fixed and I had to hold down the lever when turning. The right signal was fine. I didn't like it at all, so I started a return and ordered a GM Genuine Parts D6262D turn signal switch. It cost a little more, but it was worth the extra few bucks to get my signals working properly! I also had to purchase a power steering wheel lock remover - 648466 which is quite required for the job. Everything turned out well!

Works great in my 1978 El Camino

I thought it would be difficult to replace this part but after watching a few YouTube videos on how to do it I decided to give it a try. My left turn signal doesn't work unless you hold it in a certain spot, so I ordered this part and dug in. Went to the local parts store to borrow a steering wheel puller to save money. He removed the steering wheel and unscrewed the steering column from under the dashboard. I wrapped a piece of spare wire around the connector so when I pulled the old switch I…
