Beautiful set for free-form creativity

This is like a psychedelic version of the original Colorforms set that was re-issued by the Museum of Modern Art a while back. I have that set (photo) so, of course, getting this was a no-brainer.This is a really fun set. Where the original set were simple shapes in primary colors plus green and white, this set takes off with added shapes, brighter colors and multi-colored shapes. I think this is a wonderful improvement that has the potential to inspire so much more creativity.I also like that…

Pros
  • CELEBRATE—Get inspired by 70 amazing years of Colorforms fun!
Cons
  • The set only includes a limited number of pieces, which may not offer enough variety for extended playtime

Disappointing on my review.

I still have a previous anniversary set (40th?), so I was delighted to find this. I'm a little confused now.My previous set had large and small basic geometric shapes, in bold primary and secondary colors. This set has wavy lines and lots of two-tone pieces, in muted colors. So I guess you can make nice mandalas, but a "look mom, a wavy legged dog in mauve and muted plum" isn't quite the child creative play I remember so fondly.

Pros
  • Absolutely Stunning!
Cons
  • Some children may struggle with the adhesive quality of the stickers and may not enjoy the feeling of the stickers sticking to their hands

Wonderful, nostalgic, educational toy.

So I must admit that I was more than a bit excited when I saw these Colorforms. I was immediately transported back to my childhood when I thought that these things were magic. I passed many hours with these sticky little things, creating things and telling stories. This new take on the Colorforms magic does not disappoint. In fact, I would consider this an advanced set for a wider variety of ages that will be sure to stimulate imaginations and help develop artistic skills in young students. The

Huge set provide huge fun in a classic way

A jam packed Colorform kit will keep children entertained for hoursThis Colorform sets celebrates the 70th anniversary of the classic picture toy. Included in this set is a design board, mandala design board, over 500 Colorform pieces, an instruction/idea guide, and a storage box. The design board allows children to create their own pictures/scenes. The mandala design board allows children to design their own unique and colorful mandala. Colorforms provide children with fun and imaginative play

Pros
  • STICKS LIKE MAGIC—Stick and re-stick to your heart’s content with these repositionable shapes!
Cons
  • The set may be difficult to clean, leading to potentially unsanitary conditions and ultimately less use

Kids Loved Them. They Lost Their Stick Quickly

My kids were very excited to play with these color forms. They got frustrated quickly though, because the pieces stopped sticking after a short amount of time. They came to me asking for help and I didn't know what to do to get the pieces to cling again.

Pros
  • Toys & Games
Cons
  • The price point may be too high for some families, especially when considering the limited number of pieces and potential for short-term play

Still as Much Fun as It Was 65-Years Ago .

At the risk of dating myself, "Colorforms 70th Anniversary Set -- The Classic Picture Toy That Sticks Like Magic" is still as much fun as it was 65-years ago. This toy fosters creativity and spatial intelligence as you design buildings, animals, or abstract art using the plastic pieces. I just hop my grandchildren will enjoy this toy as much as I once did.

Pros
  • 16 ounces
Cons
  • The adhesive quality of the stickers may damage some surfaces, leaving parents with an additional clean-up task

Shipping issues good for me

The product itself is great, my only issue is how the ship it. They just put the shipping label on the product package with no shipping box. Now I have a gift that my child has seen and a damaged box from trying to get the label off. So overall good item just bad shipping method.

Pros
  • Heart,Magic
Cons
  • The set may not be as durable as other similar products, which can be frustrating for parents and children alike

Beautiful and fun for decorating the windows

My kids love those decorative clings that you can get at the dollar store for different holidays, and these Color forms are like a cross between those clubs, and Legos. There are beautifully colored architectural shapes that you can create just about anything with, but really shine for structures. My kids have been enjoying decorating and redecorating our sliding glass door with these on rainy days. Beautiful and fun.

Pros
  • Arts & Crafts
Cons
  • The images and themes included in the set may be considered outdated or no longer relevant to modern children's interests

Great activity: my feedback

My 5 and 7 year old enjoy this. The pieces cling but are a bit fiddly to get pulled out initially and put back when the designs is changed up. Nevertheless, they will sit down and work on this for a while. This would be good to take on a trip or as a take along activity. The colors are bright and versatile. I would recommend this. I think it would be a great gift for a kid, especially one that has a lot.

Pros
  • The Colorforms pieces magically stick to any smooth surface, allowing children to enjoy endless hours of creative play without the worry of making a mess or damaging furniture or walls
Cons
  • Some parents may find the set too messy to use regularly, particularly in households with pets or young children

Cooler than the sets I had as a kid in the 80's

Colorforms were one of the toys I enjoyed playing with when I was a little kid in the 80's. This set is pretty much an amped up set of what I would have had in the 80's there are more colorform clings, cooler color selections and a larger board for making designs. The set comes with lots of different shapes so you can be as creative as you want with these to make lots of fun designs. It's a nice set and I like that I got to introduce my kids to something I liked playing with as a kid.

Pros
  • STORYTELLING PLAY—Repositionable pieces make it easy to imagine new stories over and over again!
Cons
  • Some children may quickly lose interest in the predetermined images, leading to a short lifespan for the product

Classic Fun - my new review

This is a great anniversary set, a throwback to the sets I had when I was a kid. This is good old fashioned low tech creative play for kids and adults.

Pros
  • Colorforms
Cons
  • Some parents may feel that the set encourages consumer culture and a focus on material possessions over imagination and creativity

unlimited play best in my review

These are incredible! I didn't realize this company was still around and making colorforms. They stick to the included design boards, but also stick to the bathtub, fridge and sliding glass door in our house so they can be left out, on the glass door all the time and I'm ok with that because my kids (ages 7-13) ALL play with them and love them. They do "pop" better on a black surface like the design board, or a sliding glass door at night. But they look good on any smooth surface.Once you take…

Pros
  • Classic
Cons
  • The predetermined images may limit children's ability to express themselves and may not foster a sense of individuality

I have nothing but the fondest memories of playing with Colorforms as a child. I really loved peeling them off the black sheets and applying them to the scene provided. These Colorforms are not those Colorforms. This is not a bad thing, just a different thing. You get multiple sheets of colorful shapes and a blank board, and you are free to use the shapes to create anything you like. Theoretically, they can be combined to create almost anything, and a small pamphlet is included to give you just

Pros
  • 3 years and up
Cons
  • The set may not be as visually appealing to older children who may prefer more realistic or detailed images

Not the COLORFORMS I remember…

The plastic pieces are tiny. You must punch them all out individually. I did help my 7yr old punch them out. It took forever and she lost interest. I think colorforms should stick to the way they used to sell them w forms precut - I returned the 2nd one I bought as a gift for a 5 yr old. They would never have the patience or interest in this. It’s a cheaper version of a good pastime. It’s also way to expensive for what it is.

Pros
  • Heart
Cons
  • Some parents may feel that the set encourages too much screen time since many of the classic Colorforms sets were once sold with accompanying cartoons
