Works well although I found out my previous unit was still under warranty (so now I have a spare ;-). Before ordering, check your warranty to see if your defective device is covered!

Replaced my previous electric fence which protected my house from lightning strikes. It was easy to install, the Invisible Fence brand fence works great with this in-line device.

We had a lightning strike this summer. This device saved the fence controller, but the mains filter resonated, activating the hammer mechanism in the dogs' collars. They got angry. The panamax has replaced the device but I will not be using it as I would rather replace the controller from time to time than risk electrocuting my dogs.

After a lightning strike that tore our fence transmitter, I installed a Panamax MD2-DF. I just got another hit and the panamax worked fine. The underground fence wire was burned and the connector on the surge protector was effectively smoky, but it protected the transmitter as intended. I called Panamax, they changed the muffler under warranty.

I had an older version that I used for about 17 years. It was damaged during a home renovation so I decided to buy a new one. For some reason it doesn't work properly. This causes my pet fence transmitter to beep randomly. Had to replace it with another brand that I already had as a backup. My backup lightning protection is working fine so I'm not sure what the problem is.
