Not much help for a newbie.

I am very disappointed with this book. I'm a knitter but have crocheted in the past and wanted to brush up on stitches and some simple, neat patterns. There are no clear patterns in this book, and the instructions on how to do it are difficult to follow. I'll try Youtube or crochet tutorials at my local yarn store.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

It is better to buy a set of schemes for beginners from.

Not for beginners, I didn't learn anything from this book (would return it if I didn't have to pay for return postage, they're just giving it away now). It's better to buy a starter kit at a craft store. Not shown how to go from one chain stitch to other stitches, few pics, if you learn to read better it might work.

Pros
  • Featured
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

I won't tell you how to actually crochet

I wanted to learn how to crochet. Talks about everything, says it's for beginners. This takes you to page 17, where you start with the Slipknot as the setting. Then on page 18 shows hands in correct position to hold yarn, hook and slipknot. Then suddenly on page 18 we hear about the importance of the crochet kit and jump straight to chapter 2 – measurement and clothing. In Chapter 2, you'll measure your gauge and see if you're on the right track by creating a pattern. From slipknot to tracking…
