Description of HYS TCJ-N1 Hole Mount with 13' RG-58 Coax Cable NMO to PL259 - Ideal for All NMO VHF/UHF/CB Radio Antenna

The mount is a "trunk lid" mount with 13'/about 4m RG-58U cable. This requires a small (typically 3/8" to 3/4" ) hole be drilled through the surface hosting the mount, and is the best choice for an extremely rugged installation. Recommended HYS NMO Antenna: NMO Antenna TC-HC152V (136-174Mhz) or TC-HC152U (400-470Mhz), easy install and match perfectly. Prefect for mobile FM transceiver NMO antennas. NMO to PL259 working for so239/uhf female Motorola Yaesu/Vertex Kenwood HYT Icom radio, the clip need a NMO HF/UHF/VHF/CB Antenna. This is a high quality, low profile base mount that does the job very well. 13 feet NMO cable connected easily with the antenna and there is plenty of cable to reach an antenna mounted practically anywhere on your vehicle/car.

This is a good mount but...

This is a good mount except for the coax cable used. I'm a radio amateur and have used this on a hood mount. The problem is with the coax cable and a lot of RF interference causing my engine electronics and engine control unit, as well as horrible RF hissing on my radio while the engine is running and when buttons are pressed. I switched the cheap coax to RG-142, the problem was solved.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Neutral

Works well, just what I needed

Connection on both ends works great. I cut the pl259 off at the end for easier routing and trimmed the excess cable. One thing I noticed is that the outer copper wire in the cable isn't high density, meaning it doesn't have many strands. I didn't deduct any stars because the signal is still strong and has no noise so I don't think it matters, just an observation.

Pros
  • Portable audio and video
Cons
  • Update available

Check before installation

I think the price-performance ratio is good. When applying liquid adhesive tape, I didn't notice at first that there was corrosion at the soldering point. It was gray and I thought it was solder. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the ground/negative part of the cable had no connection, not even a thread! I cut off the plastic shielding from the bottom and solder both connectors. At least RG58 has copper.

Pros
  • Prefect for Mobile FM Transceiver NMO Antennas. NMO for PL259 works with Motorola Yaesu/Vertex Kenwood HYT Icom SO239/UHF radio, it needs NMO HF/UHF/VHF/CB antenna to clamp.
Cons
  • Small things
