Good value for finishes, sealers and stains

Used to apply Armstrong Clark stain to my new pressure treated deck. The brush was very strong and also withstood the stress of passing between the boards. At this price I simply threw the brush away after the job was done instead of cleaning with solvents. TIP: I put my brush in a snug/airtight plastic bag EVERY day after work. That way the stain doesn't harden and I can roll it out and continue the next day with the same brush.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Mostly ok but...

You get what you pay for.

This brush should really only be considered a disposable brush. I used this to remove a water based stain. Wash the brush well with water. A few bristles fell out after cleaning. The next morning I tapped my hand lightly with the brush to loosen the bristles and the whole head fell right out of the tip. As you can see from the photos, the bristles are held together with a small amount of glue, which explains the detachment and poor stability.

Pros
  • Hard wearing finish
Cons
  • Not bad but...

I LOVE this brush!: Finishing, Sealers & Stains

I used this brush to hand paint an 18x14 screen on the porch, floor and walls. This brush worked very well for the price and I was able to wash it and use it for several days. I read in a review that the brush fell apart after the first use, but I definitely didn't encounter that. The brush is wide and thick, ideal for painting plank wood. Given the quarantine, I was limited in my choice of brush type. But it definitely worked great and you can't beat the price. I highly recommend.

Good for a small deck

This is the first time I've used this brush to start painting a large deck. After two hours I had only painted over a tiny part and found that it was difficult to completely cover all the decking. The stain didn't penetrate the boards either. I had to keep dipping the brush into the stain. Either the brush wasn't picking up enough stain, or it was picking up more than it was giving off. My forearms burned and I thought it would take forever to get my deck dirty. Lord, have mercy! I had a spare…

Great brush, best for paint, sealers and stains

The brush held a significant amount of stain and never broke after being hand applied twice. The decks, which are twenty years old, have been cleaned and sanded before being painted. The Linzer brush was cleaned several times during the staining process as the stain began to harden but did not lose strength throughout the staining process. Ohio weather is rough and many deck planks have delamination, but they fill in easily with a Linzer brush. I bought two brushes hoping that a cheap brush…

Good Brush - Linzer 3121 0400 Stain Proof Brush 4 "

Rub vigorously with turpentine or linseed oil to clean brush; it will never be the same again, no matter how meticulous you are. So I color and throw away. This brush has held up very well. He got into all the nooks and crannies, cracks and grooves and did a great job on the stain. When applied, the bristles did not come off the brush. I finished my project this year but am ordering another one so next time I'll have to service the deck again in a few years. In my experience, an inexpensive…
