Very poor quality paint! Loss of color after two washes

These towels are in our guest bathroom. When I hung them in the bathroom they seemed soft and of good quality. Guests used them twice and now they are orange and green! I only wash in cold water no bleach but now they look awful. The towels and face wash look ok but I would NOT recommend them.

Depreciated

I bought many of these towels about two years ago and love them. They (were) fleshy and thirsty, They slowly gathered along the woven pieces (one of my favorite calluses). So I ordered some more towels a few days ago. This new generation is about 25% thinner than the ones I've bought before. They cut corners. Disappointing, but a sign of our stingy times. So don't go to previous reviews of this product as they made it cheaper.

Excellent towels even after five years!

I have had these towels since 2012 and now 2017. They are more expensive than the ones I just bought at the supermarket. Let me tell you a little bit. I bleach them every few months and they still look amazing! The ones I bought at the hardware store are half the price, and after a few washes you end up with those pesky tangled threads that need trimming. I would highly recommend Theae towels and will buy them again once I've saved a few bucks. You get what you pay for.

Worse than $4 TJ max or Ross towels

Buyers please listen to second time buyers - quality has dropped badly. Not worth the money. I first bought towels and bath towels in 2014 and I still use them, except for one of the towels that started to fall apart on the sides. So I ordered a new set. It seems that they are made by another manufacturer - too soft and do not absorb moisture at all. I regret not sending them back before washing. I thought washing would help. I no longer recommend these. Save money, look elsewhere.

I AM ANGRY! for bath towels

About a month ago I ordered two bath towels and four hand towels. They were of good quality and I gave them to friends who are retired missionaries in Africa. The towels have been made from African cotton but made in the USA, making them the perfect gift for the couple. Some time later, when I saw that the washcloths were back in stock, I ordered matching washcloths, hoping to give them away for Thanksgiving. What I got was the right color but something the size of a towel, flimsy junk more…

On closer inspection, the quality has gone down a bit

We've been using these 1888 Made Here towels at a party for six years. They hold up well, absorb moisture well and are thicker than most. This gives a sense of luxury that we want to share with visitors. One of the reasons we chose these African made cotton towels is that the bath towels are big and nice enough but not huge. In fact, some bath towels today are the size of what used to be called bath sheets. As our guest house has a small stackable washer/dryer, we were looking for a great…

1888 Mills are still durable thanks to 100% cotton.

Update: 14th June 2019: Ordered another of these towels after writing the original review and the quality is completely different. I don't know if it shows in the photo but the second towel ordered is 2/3 thicker than the two originally ordered and nowhere near as plush or soft as the original. The new towel is scratchy and poorly woven. Returned the second towel. It's a gamble no matter who you order from. It's getting harder and harder to find a decent 100% cotton towel at a reasonable price.
