What a bummer

These are the worst brake pads I have ever seen. Straight out of some Chinese sweatshop and totally useless. I won't even try to install them. The brake pads themselves are actually thinner than those on my bike that need replacing. Got ripped off again and I'm angry.

Pros
  • Semi-metal brake pads make less noise than sintered pads and offer better modulation.
Cons
  • old

Not for intensive use: parts and components

I crashed today. 3 ride on these pads. I was walking down a steep hill and suddenly as they got hot they collapsed completely. I had no brakes at all. I was lucky enough to ride between the trees. These pads belong in the trash. Original Shimano ordered. They may be suitable for flat trails, but they won't stand up to heavy use.

Pros
  • Short break-in period, stable, durable.

Good price, less stuff

I bought these to replace some dirty pads on a rarely used bike. Compared to the starting pads, they were noticeably thinner, at least 30% less material than standard Shimano pads, but also 1/3 times cheaper. They seem to work well and don't squeak like they're dirty. Still plenty, but don't expect the lead time you get from OEM pads.

Pros
  • Smooth braking delivers predictable and progressive performance.
Cons
  • Out of fashion
