Good price for WMA playback

This is one of the few CD players that supports WMA. If it's important to you then you should get it, otherwise there are cheaper CD players out there. I tested the CD-R player with WMA files encoded at 128 Kbps and was happy with the playback. Incidentally, the claim that gamers can play 48 hours on a pair of AA batteries only applies to alkaline batteries and MP3 playback at 128 Kbps under certain conditions. If you play something else and/or don't use alkaline batteries, the statement…

FAILURE, but still good in other respects.

first let me say that i'm not a pc wizard so to speak and this is my first cd player that i've brought with me that can play both wma and mp3. it's only three stars. I have a PC with WINDOWS ME LET ME MAKE IT CLEAR and am trying my best and have been helped very well. THIS CD PLAYER IS NOT ---- Let me say NO! SHOW IDENTIFICATION TAGS if you are using WINDOWS ME. XP is a different story and should work just fine for you. I chose this model because it can play pretty much anything you put in it…

Technology Versatility

It claims to play all three: CD Audio, MP3 and WMA! I had my doubts at first, but once I got past the WMA copy protection and variable bitrate issue, voila! DO NOT use Windows Media's variable bitrate recording option for WMA. IMHO, this is really sophisticated electronics with so much versatility and portability. - Standard AA batteries, at least for MP3 and WMA. Three EQ preset options include S-XBS (Bass Booster), LIVE, and Blank/Standard. The LIVE setting is HI-FI when used in a number…

Very good - portable audio and video

*The first thing I should note is that the only difference between this player and the MP70 is that the 80's can play WMA files. If you don't need this function, DO NOT buy this player. The MP70 is about $10 cheaper. Now for the review itself: At first glance, the player looks quite appealing, if a bit unwieldy. When it launched, it took about 10 seconds to load the CD and start playing. The sound quality was quite excellent, especially if you like listening to bass-heavy music such as rap…

Great choice

This CD/MP3 player is a great choice for those who want to take a wide range of music with them without being weighed down by stacks of bulky CDs. An MP3 CD can hold eight or nine hours of music, even at my preferred high bit rate. Theoretically, I could fit my entire music library - more than a hundred albums - onto ten MP3 CDs and put them in a CD case. The sound quality is excellent, top notch for a portable CD player. The headphones that come with the SL-MP80 aren't exceptional, but they're

Pleasantly surprised

I started using the MP3 Pro format and then found that my 1st gen Casio laptop wouldn't play them and I got a little tired of the to convert files. I came across Panasonic online on my phone and made an impulse purchase. Wow. It plays MP3 Pro (and pretty much every other MP3 format), has great battery life, is lightweight, and overall very cool (important, right?). It also plays WMA files and regular audio CDs (not tested or heard yet). It reads song tags on a two-line arcuate LCD display…

Lots - great sound - doesn't leak

Have owned Sony, Aiwa, Memorex and other portable CD players over the years including some of Sony's best discs. I seem to have been using both for about 3 years - regardless of the brand. It's just a fact. I'm not complaining, I've just resigned myself to buying a new one every now and then. Now that I've gotten interested in MP3s and started running again to keep in shape, I was looking for a drive that had good MP3 bounce and sounded good too. It seems difficult to find both. I tried an…

Usability on portable audio/video devices

It must be hard being a gadget designer. You take a great CD player and decide to add the ability to play MP3 and WMA files, sell a new model for the same price, and then to your surprise you get a bunch of whiners complaining why you don't have it have enabled . watch porn movies and wash dishes at the same time, all for the same low price. The point is that it is a very reliable CD player that can also play MP3 and WMA files. The user interface is very simple, just like a regular CD player…
