Roebic Rootkiller is best for opening drains

This house is not new, and on a system installed a hundred years ago I have tree roots to contend with. I don't know if it's of much use, but if I can avoid a trip to the plumber, 6 packs of these will easily be worth it. Call it insurance. I don't know if it helps, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

Pros
  • FOAM ON CONTACT: Roebic's exclusive copper-free formula foams on contact with water to fill the entire plumbing with Dichlobenil Rootkiller to inhibit new root growth
Cons
  • I don't remember

Worked great for me

Before I found this product I had to have tree roots cleaned by a plumber 3 times. Used a foaming root product in the sewer 4 times a year. I also drilled holes 12 inches deep in the ground between the tree and the sewer line and poured a couple ounces into each hole. It has been working for 5 years and without any support due to tree roots. In the last 2 years I've used it once in the spring and once in the fall, it's worked great for me.

Pros
  • EASY TO USE: Granular grout can be applied in a number of ways including residential sewer pipes and between tree roots and sewers
Cons
  • No Instructions

Prevents roots from entering drains

This product was recommended to me by a plumber. There is a mature tree growing in our garden, the roots of which ended up in the sewage system one day. Since then we have been using this product every few months to prevent re-rooting. It's important to wash it off just before leaving the house for 8 hours or more so it lathers and stays in the line. (This does not affect the rest of the tree)

Pros
  • 6 pack (package may vary)
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
