Didn't work, bad device.

Good reviews and specs but this unit didn't work. Turned on the light and got a flash. Got good technical advice and we couldn't decide. Came back and decided to try another device with even better reviews online. Revain accepted the return, of course I will continue to shop here. Probably a good unit is normal.

"This item is defective "

The Samlex inverter was marked "This item is defective". More specifically, I paid $180 for a new block. When it arrived it was obviously overpacked and placed carelessly in the box, spine to front. I taped it to the inverter and inside the clear plastic case was the same note. The inverter also rattled when shaken. never seen before It's absolutely incredible, except that it happened. If this review allowed attachments I would add a photo.

Three stars for jumpers, chargers, and portable power supplies

The fan runs constantly. Another 300w Samlex, the fan is off more often than it is on. 90 days of storage use, this inverter has never hiccuped. It powers a 32-inch Smart TV, a laptop, a 110V desktop fan and various electronics including the Sirius portable radio. I'm happy with this purchase, despite the fan running all the time. .Updated Aug 2018, 1.5 years old. Watching a 32-inch LG LCD TV with a small desk fan, the device just died. I didn't notice the warning indicator or the beep. Turned…

Unreliable: Tools and Equipment

I may have just had a bug from buying this inverter based on its other reviews which seemed pretty good. Received it quickly with free shipping which was nice. The cables that come with the kit are sub-par and cheap. When it worked it worked fine but after 5 days of use it just stopped working. It stopped working when I wasn't even using it! One night I was using my computer and I had my lights on and I decided to go to bed and turn off my computer and my lights. Woke up the next morning and…

Samlex Pure Sine Wave Inverter

A few weeks ago the wind was blowing and the power went out. I was curious to see if cable internet was missing as well. I quickly hooked up a modified sine wave inverter and powered my computer, monitor, modem and router from the inverter. I had wired internet and everything worked except for the MagicJack phone service. It is not compatible with the noise of my old modified sine wave inverter. After reading many reviews I bought a Samlex SSW-600-12A pure sine wave inverter. I reconnected…

Works great so far: Tools and hardware

I deducted a star because they ship cables with this unit that are not rated according to their own instructions. Also because you have to install your own built-in fuse, which is not easy to find. Finally found one the right size (60 amps, but according to the instructions it should be 80 amps) in a radio store hanging on the wall among some other objects (no fuses). I was distracted. I have this plugged in in my car and use it to start my Xbox computer and Q180 via the on screen lockpick…

  • Excellent construction

This is an overview of the SSW-600-12A inverter.

The big problem with this device is that the fan runs at high speed whenever the load exceeds 45W, even when the device is cold. The fan is noisy, much louder than a normal computer fan. It's annoying in a quiet room. The fan must be variable speed, with the speed being determined by the internal temperature of the device. When switched off, the device consumes 3.3 mA. Switched on with no load draws 520 mA. The high voltage cutoff is 14.8 volts. Low voltage alarm, continuous loud high-pitched…
