I have a 31" waist and the mids fit as expected. But they are a bit long for me, just below the knee. The reason for the 2 stars is that I ordered 2 different colors for an upcoming trip and they sent 2 in the same color. Little problem. Also, one of the pairs I ordered had a back pocket sewn into the crotch seam and I had to be careful to cut it out to avoid cutting through the pocket. I would try to return them but it was too close to my trip to send them back and wait for a new pair.

had to stock up on my shorts wardrobe for a trip down south and bought about 4 pairs of new shorts, the rest fit as advertised but this size XXL fits like L. I like looks and weight and I usually wear XL. I have learned where the product is made to order a size up but this one is very tight in the waist and tucus. I will give it to my little brother without worrying about the return. So tl;dr are the big boys, stay away from them but for everyone else I think you'll like them.

These shorts were amazing until right side pocket zip broke a few hours after first wear. I have used these shorts to travel to a tropical country to keep cool and dry and they have worked great for that. However, when traveling I needed zippers in all three pockets to protect my wallet, phone and keys.
