Instead of this kit, I could just buy a wax melting pot

Candle Dye chunks do not melt, they break into smaller pieces but do not melt and look like crayon shavings at the bottom of my dried candle, otherwise everything is in order.

Such a fun kit!

I bought this set to take my grandkids to make sand candles at the beach. It was very easy to use and our candles turned out amazing! I used a portable camping heater to heat the wax. In minutes we had hot wax with great color! The craft caused a sensation!

Nice set but throw away the dyes

I haven't made my own candles since I was a kid. Luckily, there are plenty of YouTube videos to help you with this. This kid had no instructions. If you want to make your own candles, make sure you have a candy thermometer and wax. This kit includes a melting pot, short wicks, double-sided placement stickers, and an assortment of different colors of ground wax that isn't melted in my soy wax.

Good gift for beginners

The pot has a small opening making it difficult to stir AND see and harder to clean. It is very difficult to have a thermometer there. The wick tends to tunnel, so they're only good for things no wider than a vow, MAYBE a post. The colors are beautiful, just need the right temperature and a little stirring. That's a good cheap start, but you'll need upgrades or something better if you plan on making candles for a while.
