Fan of Hakko! for tips

Started out with their desoldering gun and liked it so much I went to one of their soldering stations. FX-951. Astonishing! This tip arrived on time as described and is one of the reasons why the FX-951 is so easy to use!

I would recommend 1

Essential tip for routine PCB work. Also, I would recommend a 1.2mm tip and micro chisel for working with SMD and small pin ICs. These chisels must be ordered separately from the Hakko Soldering Station but are essential and will last a long time if handled properly. They're not cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you want professional results, you need professional tools.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

You may only need one tip

This tip is ideal for general through soldering. It can be used for tinning small wires and pads and is probably also suitable for surface mounting (not tried). It doesn't appear to be big or small, just the right amount of thermal mass. The flattening of the bit is clearly visible, the processing and assembly quality is first class. Highly recommended, probably the only advice you'll ever need.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
