good space saving stand but not stable for a condenser mic

I like this product because it allowed me to get rid of a bulky mic stand with tripod legs that wasn't tall enough to stand and use (it was a seated one high microphone stand). So it worked well and served its purpose. This desktop mic stand comes in very handy as it freed up (or saved) a lot of space in my office. It appears to be made of quality material. The only problem I have is that the base isn't heavy enough. It was mentioned/said in the Q&A section on the seller's page that it is…

  • Quality construction

Too big AND too short at the same time

I really wanted this mic stand to be perfect and it is VERY close to perfect. Height with my Rode mic, bump and pop filters on. With the minimum setting and the correct microphone position, the microphone is too high. In the highest position the mic starts to tip a bit and loses balance because it's so heavy you have to put the mic upside down, but when it's upside down the mic becomes too short. So the problem is that the stand doesn't go down as low as I would like, but it also doesn't go up…

  • Excellent overall performance

  • Clarity

Great start for YouTube, Podcasts etc.

This is a great solution. A great start for YouTubers and podcasters. It is adjustable. That looks great. No giant space pig. There are heavier ones out there, but that should handle most capacitors just fine. I'd be a little nervous about some heavy tube capacitors. For example a heavy clone of C12. With a regular condenser mic, you need to turn the mic upside down for on-table use, like the picture I've attached. When you do this, some shock absorbers will touch the base. Make sure it doesn't

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • So far so good

I got this mic as a Christmas present because I just started with audio books and needed a mic stand. What is it and why do I need it?: This is a desktop mic stand with great build quality that allows you to hold the mic while recording. You may need this if you're speaking at your desk or just dictating with Dragon Naturally Speaking, Google Docs, or another speech recognition program. It would also be helpful for Skype calls or any other form of communication through your computer. First…
